MISSIONS MINISTRIES

At Bethel United Methodist Church, we strive to live out our vision of being a "beacon of light and love" by providing our members the opportunity to serve others throughout our community and our world.  There is a wide variety of missions in which you can be involved.  Here are just a few...

  • BETHEL MISSIONS TEAM

The team welcomes all who have a heart for missions.  They meet once a month or so to discuss and implement ways in which we can better serve our community.  Special Mission Drives and offerings occur throughout the year to benefit non-profit organizations such as Lend-a-Hand, Delaware Hospice, Children of Zion Orphanage, Perpetual Prosperity Pumps, Home of the Brave, Jusst Sooup and many more.  The Missions Team also hosts sew-a-thons several times a year where they make clothing and accessories for impoverished children around the world.

If you'd like to become involved with the Missions Team, please contact Kathy Dreason.

    Co-chairs:  Kathy Dreason, Patty Marvel

    Secretary:  Cathie Wagner

    Treasurer:  Missy Herring

  • Food Basket Ministry

Donations are collected year-round for the Cape Henlopen Food Pantry.  Simply bring in your canned goods, non-perishables (such as pasta, rice, dried beans), and even toiletries and paper products and place them in the collection bin.  We'll drop them off at the Food Pantry for you!  For information, please contact the office HERE.

  • Gardening Angels

God has gifted Bethel with a beautiful property and the Gardening Angels are dedicated to keeping it that way!  If you have a "green thumb" or just like to play in the dirt, this mission team is for you.  You can work with us as a team or simply stop by on your own to tackle some weeds or plant some flowers.  Please contact Dana MacElrevey for more information.

  • Giving Tree Ministry

Each Christmas Bethel unites to provide Christmas gifts for needy families in our area and surrounding communities.  You can help with the Giving Tree by donating gifts (monetary donation are gladly accepted as well) or packing and delivering gifts.  What a special way to remember what Christmas is really all about.  For information, contact Barb Shelton.

  • MISSION TRIps

Mission Trips are transformative experiences and they're not just for our church's youth!  Each year a group of adults from our congregation has embarked on mission trips to a variety of locations such as Alaska, Vermont, Missouri and the Bahamas.  Whether you are a young adult or young-at-heart, you are sure to be blessed by being a blessing to others in need.  And while those on previous mission trips have reported being tired at the end of each day, the chance to reflect and pray together in the evening renews body and spirit.  If you are interested in finding out more, contact Ray Davis.

  • OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Bethel is actively involved with collecting items for OCC year-round.  Those items are then used to fill shoe boxes which, through the work of Samaritan's Purse, are then sent around the world to demonstrate God's love in a tangible way to children in need around the world.
