Missions Committee

The purpose of the Missions Committee is to go out and help our fellow man whenever and wherever possible.  And as stressed in 40 Days of Community, we should all be stepping out of our comfort zone to help others.   This committee is open to all who wish to join us so we can better help others.  Please consider joining our team.  We meet 4-5 times a year and support all missions of our church.  Contact Judy and Norm Woods 945-2953 for information or to share your ideas for outreach in the community--we need your help!!!

 Our continuing missions are:

2008 Mission Projects!

Start saving those sneakers!  During April and May, we will be running a sneaker drive for the Perpetual Prosperity Pump Foundation that assists families in Ghana become independent farmers.  The funds raised from the sale of the shoes provides land, livestock, seedlings and a bicycle powered water pump as well as education for the families.  We ran this drive about 2 years ago and collected almost 500 pairs of shoes!  Talk to your friends, relatives, and coworkers and start collecting "gently used" adult size sneakers.

We will be having a special fund drive from Mother's Day to Father's Day for the Pregnancy Center in Georgetown.  Details to follow.

Funds have been given to the Jackson family and the Stephen Ministry team this past month.

The Love offering for March will be the Therapeutic Horse program that assists people with special needs providing exercise as well as bonding.  People in our congregation have benefited from this national program.  We know you'll give generously.

We are looking into starting a work camp type ministry that would provide help with home projects all year around for local families.  We would do this several weekends a year or on a regular basis (say, every 5th Saturday) depending on the teams wishes and availability.  If you are interested, please call 945-2953 and ask for Judy or Norm.

New Life Thrift Shop

If you are looking for ways to give back to your community, I have an idea for you.  Why not volunteer at the New Life Thrift Shop for a few hours each week.  They truly need your help.  The Thrift Shop has raised over $500,000 in 2006 alone. That money is being distributed to many local charities such as the Cape Henlopen Food Basket, the Pregnancy Care Center, Meals-on-Wheels and so many more.
Please join them in their efforts. For more information, call Dutch Kelley at 644-0171.

If you have an idea that YOU would like to start and it's not listed on this page, speak to one of the pastors.
